For many students in the university, and especially those in the early years of their studies, the small group or tutorial provides an important social contact with peers and teachers. The value of this contact should not be underestimated as a means for students to meet and deal with people and to resolve a range of matters indirectly associated with your teaching, such as difficulties with studying, course attendance and so on.

Think positively. Imagine an interested and appreciative audience, achievement of the goals you set for yourself and your students, and being in control of the situation.
